Howdy Pholks...

We just got back from Key West and our first trip to MOTM...there were 5 couples from our club down there. Dave and I traveled with Denise and Robert. We joined Fred and Libby, Tad and Kelly, and Mark and Marion down there.  Our trip started with a flight into Miami Thursday afternoon. We rented a car to make that long drive down to Key West. Along the way, we stopped at a little place on the Monroe County line called Alabama Jack's...the bartender was telling everyone that would listen that Jimmy Buffett was rumored to be appearing only a few miles away...now, the Monroe County line is quite far from Key West and kind of nowhere in the general scheme of things...this guy was a little off...  We were about 10 minutes out from Key West when one of our cell phones rang. It was Tad and Kelly, still at home in Havana. They had called to tell us that Jimmy has just taken the stage at the Casa Marina and that they were listening on Radio Margaritaville. We started to speed up...  We pulled in at the Casa and found a spot on the street to leave our car and pretty much ran to the entrance. We could hear Jimmy playing...  The MOTM security folks gave us a hard time but we were allowed to check in and were given temporary bracelets. We rushed out to the lawn where hundreds of Parrot Heads (could've been more...there were 3000 or so at MOTM) were packed onto the hotel lawn by the water. We found Libby and Fred (or rather, they found us!) and edged our way into a prime spot near the stage next to a huge inflated Corona bottle. I found the nearest open bar and purchased my first Corona of the weekend...Jimmy paid homage to Jerry Garcia and played Scarlet Begonia (see License to Chill album).  And that was how a long, tiring, really fun first MOTM weekend began...
